Day 3: Paris

We decided on a pretty chill morning even though we all had a great sleep last night. I went out for coffees and pastries to enjoy at home. Then we went up to MLK park which had a playground for Poppy.

She’s not great with unknown kids at home, and even less so here when they’re not speaking English, but she’s having fun playing with us and on her own so that’s all that really matters.

We stopped at Decathlon on the way back to pick up some water wings for her for our planned swim in the Seine later that day!

We grabbed a couple ham and cheese baguettes on our way back for lunch and planned an easy nap at home.

Poppy had other plans though and didn’t fall asleep. So we cut our losses and just left earlier than expected for the swimming hole.

We had to wait at least 30 minutes to get in but it was worth it. Totally free and an awesome experience. There was a separate closed off pool area for kids that was only up to Poppy’s chest. The floor in that pool was incredibly slippery but once you got used to it it made things fun. We pretended to skate. I also went for a quick dip in the Seine – the water was shockingly clear. A decent current!

After the swim we went to Francette because from what we could see, they served food all day. Unfortunately they definitely do not. So we settled for some ice cream, sausage and beer to hold us over at a café across the way.

We got home before 7 so no local places were really open for dinner yet. We cooked pasta at our apartment and Poppy ate a decent amount. She was super tired by this point so we had a quick bath, and then after a couple meltdowns getting her pajamas on, she passed right out. Another good day!

Next few days look a little iffy, good chance of rain each day. Tomorrow we’ll try to visit the local market in the morning and see what other action we can find in the afternoon.
